When You Fear You’re Missing Out on Life

Hey Mama,

I want to share one of my favorite Bible verses with you. I remember when I had 2 little boys that were rambunctious, and I was so tired.

A preacher had come by as a guest speaker to our church one day and well, his wife must have noticed how I felt because she came to me and shared this verse with me.

She told me how seasons change and that during this season that I had little “lambs”, it was ok to slow down.

He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young.

Isaiah 40:11 (NIV)

Too many times we can become quite legalistic in this season of “doing”.

Young moms who are home can feel that they aren’t “doing enough” for the kingdom of God or that they are “missing out” on something big.

We can even become resentful of our husbands who seem get to “be out there” on an adventure.

I want to encourage you today with this same verse.

Seasons do change, our children grow. Time goes faster than you realize although it seems so slow right now.

Every season brings its own challenges but, Jesus promises to GENTLY lead us. He knows our needs and our weaknesses.

He is our maker and the one who gave us these precious lambs.

He knew that YOU would be the perfect mom for them!

I want to encourage you to step out of the bondage of mom-legalism and into GRACE and truth.

Know that your relationship with Jesus is an on-going dance you have with him all day, while you cook, clean and work, rather than being frustrated that you didn’t get to have 1 hour of soaking time completely alone with God in your bathtub and then feeling that somehow God will be disappointed in you.

Jesus is telling us in this verse how he feels about you! He is the most patient Shepherd and He loves you. He wants you to be free to be the best version of you He dreamt of.

Enjoy this season of motherhood. They don’t stay young forever.

You will have time again to do the things you had to put on hold as you sacrifice for your children. It will all be worth it…

Because Mama, He is the God who sees.

She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

Genesis 16:13 (NIV)

Jesus sees you right there as you fold clothes and wipe messes and cry as you feel overwhelmed whether you have one little lamb or a whole flock that follow you around.

He sees you, and He says, “You have chosen the better part”. He sees you, and He carries you and your children, close to His heart!

Stay tuned for part 2 on for practical tips on how to grow in your relationship with God during this season of raising little ones and ways on how He wants to use you in the lives of your children AND the world around you. 🤗
